There is no better feeling than making sales while you sleep.
Some lucky people have a CRM system that gets their customers to fax sales orders to them without asking; others have a website that sells their products and ships it to their customers without them even knowing.
It all sounds so simple doesn’t it?
So why do so many businesses fail within the first 5 years? And why do so many sales people work so hard to just get 1 sale?
I will tell you why, but first let me tell you about a sales and marketing mistake I made that I learned the hard way!
I’m telling you this because I do not want you to make the same BIG mistake I made.
You see when I left the world of computers to start by own business, I was a computer nerd. I had 15 years computer and telecommunication experience and was the IT Systems Director for Australia’s third largest telecommunication company AAPT Mobile. I was able to create my own CRM systems, computer networks and websites. It was the best that money could buy. Now some people think that all this technology costs a lot of money, well it doesn’t have to. You can set up great CRM system and website for as little as $2500.
So there I was, I had started my new business and I was making no sales. Each day I was losing money like most businesses, and when I did make a sale I had to work long hours for very little profit.
That is when I start learning about sales and marketing.
And I started to understand that sales is all about people – my customers!
The big lesson I had to learn was that most people Hate Computers and Technology.
You see the reason your web site or CRM system fails is because your customers hate technology!
That’s right, most people hate technology and computers, but they love the results technology gives them.
So you need to ask yourself – how does your website or CRM system help your clients?
Does it help your clients solve their problems?
Does it make your client’s life easier?
Does it give them what they want?
Does it provide them with value for their money?
So many times I see sales people trying use technology like Facebook, SMS and email and they make no sales.
You need to spend less time learning everything about latest gadget and start seeing how it is affecting your clients.
