Using Sales Writing to Increase Your Sales Growth

Think about this. You open the newspaper and begin to read. What is it that your eyes do? Do you immediately begin reading from the top of the newspaper, taking in every word? Or, do you start glancing over the page, picking out important words and looking for items of interest? 

Studies have actually shown that many people tend to scan from left to right and then scan the articles within the newspaper. 

What is scan reading? 

This means they read over the headlines and whatever else may happen to catch their eye at the time. When something does catch their attention, they slow down and read more carefully. 

This group of people – scanners – will read the headline and the first opening paragraph and then will usually go right to the end of the document where they will read the closing sentence and any PS’s.
