Recently I was coaching Luana from Mt Isa, one of my Implementation Club clients, about the importance of defending her business’s cash flow and profit. Yes that is right – defending your cash flow from people who do not pay their bills on time, need to be reminded a thousand times, or keep saying that the cheque is in the mail etc…
Then you probably think, you need to spend more of your money using expensive debt collectors. And if you do, do not fall for the “you are only paid if they win” trick – Yeah that’s right, it is all those little admin fees, company search fees, court fees etc.. that all add up.
You need to you defend your cash flow and profit from these mindless companies and people or you will lose your way of life and family lifestyle.
You see Luana runs a great business selling First-Aid equipment to the mining & resource industry… on a side note, if you want good safety equipment at reasonable prices give her a call. But she was having to spend a lot personal time defending her cash flow from the big mindless companies. This was sucking all the personal time and energy from her and she did not get to focus or to work on real money-making tasks like sales and marketing.
I was also once like Luana, I was a victim of the large mindless companies and people who think you can run your business on air and empty promises. But I changed that years ago.. a. Chance to go into the draw to win a holiday, movie tickets, dinner for two etc..
b. Free shipping for the next order, or all orders next month
c. Free monthly VIP customer members that give same day same phone call/quote/shipping etc (I generally prefer that you do not offer a money discount as this attracts long term price-shoppers)
3. You also get up to 17% faster payment if you give people instructions (printed on the invoice) on how they can pay the invoice. (Include the easier methods first…)
